ESPN Video on Jon Kitna

Here's an older video on ESPN.com about Jon Kitna.

Obviously there was a lot of hype surrounding Kitna earlier in the season when his prediction of 10 wins had a chance to come true. I believe that is when this video was first available on ESPN.
Let me say that I would definitely pray if I was staring down 300 lb defensive lineman. It would probably be the weakest part of my quarterbacking skills, my constant need to fall on my knees and cry for mercy.

Kitna references I Thessalonians 5:17: "Pray without ceasing." I'm impressed that he knows what the Bible says. Not only that, he he also puts it into practice. Say what you want about the guy, but he's not a hypocrite. He seems like the real deal: A genuine Bible-quoting believer in Jesus. It's interesting that he didn't get much publicity about his 'Cross' hat when he was on the Bengals. A bold prediction plus the chance of it coming true put him in the spotlight a little more.

I'm not sure what's going on with the gentlemen at the end of the video. This was a longer piece that got cut short. Apparently he doesn't think to highly of Kitna. (It's very rarely positive when you hear the words 'out of his mind.')

I don't think that Kitna's trying to 'spread the gospel' on the football field. He's not requiring (or even asking) his teammates to pray in the huddle. He's making the choice to do it on his own. Whether you believe in God, the Bible, or Christianity, you at least have to respect that Kitna is living according to what he believes.

If there really is a God and if that God personally cares about each person, then it makes perfect sense for Kitna to pray to that God for peace, guidance, and wisdom on the football field. He's not out of his mind at all. In fact, if this whole Christianity thing is true, Jon Kitna would be out of his mind to not pray. (Anyone would be out of their mind not to pray).
